The doctors of Associated Dental Specialists (ADS) are all members of the American Association of Endodontists and the American Dental Association.
All of our doctors are Board Certified or Board Eligible in endodontics and limit their practice to the specialty of endodontics.
All ADS doctors are also members of the State and Local Dental Associations, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, Western Pennsylvania Dental Society, as well as the Local Dental Branch Societies.
Dr. Ronald G. Linaburg is a native of Western Pennsylvania, attended the University of Pittsburgh for predoctoral studies, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1968, he received a DMD degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. After a two-year private practice of general dentistry, in 1970 entered The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry Graduate Endodontic Program. In 1972, received his Endodontic Certificate and Master of Science Degree in Endodontics. In 1972, Dr. Linaburg was appointed Associate Professor and Director of the Department of Endodontics at The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry. In 1974 he began a practice limited to endodontics in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Dr. Linaburg has continuously maintained membership in the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association and the Western Pennsylvania Dental Society. He maintains membership in the American Association of Endodontics and has served as the regional tri-state spokesman for the American Association of Endodontists. He has been active in education as a professor, clinician and guest lecturer locally, regionally and nationally contributing to dental literature in both the education and clinical Endodontic fields. Dr. Linaburg practiced endodontics exclusively since 1972 and is the founder of Associated Dental Specialists and serves as its Executive Director.
Dr. Jack E. Vande Visse, from Grand Rapids, Michigan, attended Grand Rapids Community College for pre-doctoral studies graduating with an Associate of Science degree. In 1970, Dr. Vande Visse received his D.D.S. degree from the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry and was inducted into the University of Michigan Chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society for academic excellence. Dr. Vande Visse served for two-years as a Captain in the United States Air Force. In 1972, he was appointed Clinical Director at The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics. In 1973, he entered the Graduate Endodontic Program at The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics and was appointed Associate Director of Endondontics serving in this capacity until receiving his Endodontic Specialty Certification in 1975. Dr. Vande Visse then joined Associated Dental Specialists and has continually maintained membership in the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, the Western Pennsylvania Dental Society and the American Association of Endondontists. He has been active in education and has contributed to dental literature in the Endodontic field. Dr. Vande Visse has practiced endodontics exclusively since 1975.
Dr. Ronald V. Ferrari is originally from Wynnewood, PA. He completed his pre-doctoral studies at LaSalle University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biological Sciences. He received a D.D.S. degree from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Ferrari served two years as a U.S. Navy Lieutenant Dental Officer aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal. He then entered private general dental practice in Wilmington, Delaware. In 1969, Dr. Ferrari completed the Post-Doctoral Endodontic Program at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine, Department of Graduate Endodontics, receiving his Endodontic Specialty Certification. Dr. Ferrari then entered the private practice of Endodontics in Pittsburgh, PA. He contributed to Endodontic research and education at the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate Endodontic Department. He is the past president of the Western Pennsylvania Academy of Endodontists. Dr. Ferrari has lectured, throughout the region, on Endodontics and is the past president of the Chartiers Dental Society. In 2010, Dr. Ferrari joined Associated Dental Specialists. He maintains membership in the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Western Pennsylvania Dental Association and the American Association of Endodontics.
Dr. Martin D. Hickey grew up on Staten Island in New York City. Received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Doctoral Studies from the College of Emporia. After serving three-years as an Officer in the United States Coast Guard, he went on to receive his D.M.D. degree from the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry, in 1975. Dr. Hickey practiced general dentistry for 6-years with the United States Navy before going on to receive his Endodontic Specialty Certification from the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, Maryland in 1983. From 1983 until his retirement from the Navy in 1992, Dr. Hickey was the head of the endodontic departments at MCRD Parris Island, the Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy and NAS Millington, Tennessee. Dr. Hickey was certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics in 1992 and upon his retirement after 22-years of active duty service, joined the Pittsburgh endodontic team of Associated Dental Specialists. Dr. Hickey maintains memberships in the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Western Pennsylvania Dental Society, the American Association of Endodontics and the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Endodontics.
Dr. Ronald E. Hand is a Pennsylvania native growing up in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. Attended Bloomsburg State College for Pre-Doctoral studies graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine and was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, ETA Chapter Honorary Dental Society in 1972. Commissioned a Captain in the United States Air Force and was assigned to Chanute Air Force Base Regional Hospital, Illinois for a Dental Internship. In 1974, Dr. Hand entered the U.S. Army Endodontic Residency Training Program and, in conjunction with the U.S. Army Institute of Dental Research, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the George Washington University, Washington, D.C., received a Master of Science degree in 1975 and his Endodontic Specialty Certification his second year of residency at Madigan Army Medical Center, Fort Lewis Washington in 1976. Dr. Hand is a Board Certified Endodontist, certified in 1983 by The American Board of Endodontics as a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontists. He has served as: Regional Consultant in Endodontics, Chief and Chairman of numerous Departments of Endodontics, as clinical instructor and lecturer for two American Dental Association accredited residency training programs. He has done research, published research, and contributed numerous articles to endodontic literature. In 1995, Dr. Hand retired from the United States Air Force as a Colonel and joined the Pittsburgh endodontic specialty group of Associated Dental Specialists. Dr. Hand has continuously maintained membership in the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Western Pennsylvania Dental Society, the American Association of Endodontists and the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Endodontics.
Dr. Renee R. Kalp is originally from Greensburg, Pa. She completed her pre-doctoral studies at The Pennsylvania State University in 2004 receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Business. In 2008, she received a D.M.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Kalp was valedictorian of her class and was named to the Dean’s List with honors for four years. She was the recipient of the Ruth Semenow Friedman Scholarship, Rylands Award on behalf of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, O. H. Moore Scholarship, Gene Lannon Scholarship, and an academic scholarship from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Kalp was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, an honors society recognizing students with both exceptional academic and clinical skills. In 2010, Dr. Kalp completed the Post-Doctoral Endodontic Program at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Endodontics, receiving her Endodontic Specialty Certification. After completing her residency in 2010, Dr. Kalp joined Associated Dental Specialists. She is currently serving as a member of the continuing education advisory board committee with Associated Dental Specialists. She maintains membership in the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Western Pennsylvania Dental Society and the American Association of Endodontics.
Dr. Richard S. Smith is a Pennsylvania native growing up in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He attended The Pennsylvania State University for his pre-doctoral studies graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. In 1994, Dr. Smith received his D.D.S. degree graduating Cum Laude from the University of Colorado, Health Science Center, School of Dentistry. Dr. Smith also served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy. In 1999, he received his Endodontic Specialty Certification from the Medical College of Georgia, School of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics. Dr. Smith has held faculty teaching positions at the School of Dentistry, Department of Endodontics at the following: The Medical College of Georgia, Marquette University and the University of Colorado, Health Science Center. He has contributed to dental literature with his research being published in the Journal of Endodontics. Dr. Smith has been an endodontist with Associated Dental Specialists since 2002. He maintains membership in the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Western Pennsylvania Dental Society and the American Association of Endodontists.
Dr. Rebecca Watkins Pettit is originally from Toledo, Ohio. She completed her pre-doctoral studies at Ohio University receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Studies and Psychology. In 2003, she received a D.M.D. degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Watkins graduated near the top of her class and was named to the Dean’s List with honors for four years. She was the recipient of the Toledo Dental Society Scholarship, the William Friedman Scholarship and the Academic Scholarship from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Watkins received the Robert Zugsmith Memorial Award, a recognition and monetary award for the female graduate demonstrating excellent academic and clinical skills. In addition, she received the American Association of Endodontists Student Achievement Award. In 2005, Dr. Watkins completed the Post-Doctoral Endodontic Program at the University of Pittsburgh, Department of Endodontics, receiving her Endodontic Specialty Certification. Dr. Watkins has contributed to Endodontic literature, focusing on the application of lasers in surgical endodontics. She entered the private practice of endodontics in suburban Philadelphia. In 2006, Dr. Watkins joined Associated Dental Specialists. She maintains membership in the American Dental Association, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Western Pennsylvania Dental Society and the American Association of Endodontics.
